Project START by Mumsbooth is a program aimed at training women with Business, Entrepreneurial, Vocational and Digital skills to enable them START a business.
The first Edition of Project START by Mumsbooth held on the 26th of October 2017 in Abuja. Women were trained on skills like Hair making, Soap making and Cream making, Fashion Design and Creativity, Cake Making, Catering, Event Management, Make-Up, and Gele Tying and More.
The women trained were followed up by our team and helped to start a business with the skills they had just learned by providing further training and guidance, financial support to some persons where needed and pushed to actually get started.
This is what Project START is really about: Training them on skills, following them up afterward and helping them start a business.
After training a couple of women, we decided to have the Kids edition because we figured that a lot of problems we have as adults today is the lack of proper knowledge and starting early enough would go a long way to making things right in our society today.
We have since had 19 Editions with 4,260 women trained in 4 Cities in Nigeria: Abuja, Jos, Kano and Uyo; an edition in Kampala Uganda and a live session with women represented from 11 African Countries and 514 kids in all with about 35% of them(to the best of our knowledge) have started their businesses as a result of these trainings.
We aim to reach every woman in our community and have several Kids’ editions too to help the kids start early. We are saying No to Poverty, providing jobs, and creating a sustainable economy, and actively working towards achieving sustainable development goals: SDGs 1, 2, 4, and 8.
